Andrew has spent the last 25 years of his professional career developing his set of skills, including sales, business development, consulting, accounting, and corporate restructuring for the top management consulting and technology companies in the world. His global industry experiences include education, automotive, banking, defense, counterterrorism, and health and human services. He has received various awards and accolades from previous employers and recently changed his career to focus on the improvement of education with the launch of his company, Kovexa. Kovexa is an advisory company focused on accelerating change in education. The company works to improve education with solutions and offerings using artificial intelligence and the creation of curriculum pathways for high-tech skills. His current clients include several of the largest universities, community college systems, K-12 districts, leading edtechs, venture capital, and private equity organizations globally.
Prior to launching Kovexa, Andrew served as the Managing Director of Global Education at Amazon Web Services, where his achievements include sustaining annual double-digit revenue growth and establishing a global education strategy for AWS. By driving innovation with cloud-based programs and solutions for EdTechs, Learning Companies, Higher Education Institutions, and K-12 systems over the past four years, the business grew double digits percentage year over year consistently and over 5x in personnel and total revenue growth. His education initiatives and customer wins were recognized publicly in two companies.
Prior to joining Amazon, Andrew was the Corporate Vice President of Samsung Global Education. In this position, he oversaw the B2B Enterprise Business for mobile products and solutions in the European region. In this role, he incubated key solutions for education, financial services, and the connected car industry. His most substantial win included BMW’s “Touch Command” project, a B2B tablet integration in over 500K BMWs, and was recognized by Samsung’s Chairman and CEO.
Prior to his move to South Korea, Andrew was the General Manager for Microsoft Corporation’s U.S. Education business. His work included implementing large K-12 state-wide education cloud solution initiatives, modernizing student information systems, promoting STEM and Computer Science through public-private partnerships, and designing teacher professional development for the effective use of technology in the classroom. He led the White House ConnectED initiative that enabled a billion-dollar technology investment in the U.S. education system, resulting in recognition for the company in President Obama’s 2014 State of the Union address.
Andrew is also a veteran of the Big Six consulting industry, having held positions at Deloitte Touché Tohmatsu Emerging Markets Group and KPMG Consulting. He developed his skills through management consulting, financial accounting, corporate restructuring, process improvement, and policy implementation while serving in positions across the U.S. and international markets. His clients included the U.S. Department of Education, the Korean Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Korean Financial Supervisory Commission, the World Bank, the IMF, and the Asian Development Bank.
Governor Terry McAuliffe appointed Andrew as a member of the Virginia State Board of Education, where he assisted in setting statewide curriculum standards, establishing high school graduation requirements, determining qualifications for classroom teachers, and establishing state testing and assessment programs.
Currently, Andrew participates in various nonprofit boards, including the Northern Virginia Community College Foundation, George Mason University’s President’s Innovation Advisory Council (PIAC), and the President’s Council of Advisors at CalPoly. Additionally, he was involved with Virginia’s Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC), where he led the Strategy Committee for Innovation and Investments in Startups for the Commonwealth. Furthermore, Andrew was asked to Co-Chair the Fairfax County Public Schools Distance Learning Committee when they faced challenges with LMS functionality.
Andrew earned a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Maryland and was a Certified Public Accountant. He and his wife have three children residing in Loudoun County, Virginia. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys volunteering and always encourages others to participate in their communities.
